St Nicholas the guy that eventually became the basis for Santa himself started out a little more simply. He was a Bishop in Myra and became known for a reputation of secret gift-giving. He eventually became a Saint, and the Patron Saint of children no less. Which further goes to show why he became the basis of Santa. However did you know besides that he was also Patron Saint of:
