It is illegal to eat mince pies on Christmas day!
As we know (don’t tell me you’ve not read day 2) Oliver Cromwell banned all things related to christmas in 1647, this included mince pies and all things considered glutenous or in any way related to the ‘pagan’ festival of Christmas. The law about eating mince pies on christmas day has never been rescinded.
So beware who you invite in for a mince pie and a brandy, they may be a spy.
