R.I.P Mr Frisbee

In 1955 a man named Walter Fredrick Morrisson produced the first plastic frisbee and named it the ‘Pluto Platter’. Today is a sad day for frisbee enthusiasts all over the globe (don’t laugh, there is an enthusiast for every toy) as the inventor (co-inventor if we’re goning to be specific, the other side of the partnership was a man named Warren Franscioni) has died at the grand old age of 90.

The name Frisbee is rumoured to have originated from a brand name featured on the metal tin lids used by college students. Inspiration for the plastic mass produced commercial version.
